KishanBabu and the stolen motorcycle

                                        I love bikes.
I waited 7 years to buy this one.
                                        It's tough iron muscle.
                                        Almost an extended me.

Its been more than a year since I bought this, but every time I take it out, I am en route a heavenly ride. The engine roar, the smooth pickup, the change of gears and the long rides, that's happiness in a single combo. If the Bicycle is a revolution, the Motorcyle, its Big Brother a feather on its cap. By the way I am a police officer , Raghupathy, Commissioner of Police at Chennai.Today i am taking my personal bike to station.

[Vrooom,vrrooom]
[switching gears]

As you travel with me on my bike,  let me say you something more about me.My first bike was an Yezdi, the one whose kickstarter is used to change gears as well and then a Bullet, the oldest brand still alive and manufactured in Chennai!.Apart from bikes, I love my job,I love policing, I love helping society maintain its sanity. Today I am looking into a peculiar bike robbery case. I could have asked my subordinates to deal with it. But I wanted to meet this bike thief.

What is your name? , Raghupathy asked

"KishanBabu sir", KishanBabu replied. He stood nervous and arms crossed.

Where are you from? , Raghupathy asked
"I am from Bihar sir, I work in construction site at OMR road ", KishanBabu replied. He came to Chennai three years back as a cheap labor for working on an apartment site in Old Mahabalipuram Road, the new Chennai with IT parks, high rise apartments, high end restaurants lining along with petty shops, cows, temple festivities and placards.

"Sit down" Raghupathy said
Kishanbabu felt a shrill on his spine.
"Sit down " Raghupathy said again.
Kishanbabu sat in the wooden chair before him with half of each of his ass , arms still crossed.

"Do you know the punishment for stealing a bike?", Raghupathy asked
"Yes sir" Kishanbabu answered, his eye pupils enlarged and heart started to pump its motor heavily

"Why did you steal then?" Raghupathy asked .
"My dream ...sir.....ride a Bullet...atleast once..but no one give me..not even once..no one trust me..i am no thief...only one ride i want" Kishanbabu pleaded.

"So you stole some one else's Bullet?" Raghupathy asked, his eyelids followed the question raising itself and asking in its language

"No sir, no no steal. Just one ride...i keep after that at same place i plan...but people catch me before that...not believe me...i no thief sir, never steal before...please trust me ...my family need me" Kishanbabu said, with his eyes following it answering in tears, its own language.

Raghupathy was silent. He gave a cold stare at Kishanbabu probably trying to read his mind.

After a long pause,

"What do you know about a Bullet ?" Raghupathy asked.

KishanBabu said with confusion and excitement:

"Bullet ,oldest brand still exist"
"Wonderful sound, wonderful feel"
"My heart beat and bullet beat all become one " Kishanbabu said in excitement. Three -fouths of his each ass were on the chair now.

"Do you know Bullet is manufactured in Chennai" Raghupathy asked with authority,a little compassion and a little mutual bond feeling.

"OFCOURSE,OFCOURSE I know" Kishanbabu said with pride. The pride was not on his knowledge of it , rather on the use of the word 'Ofcourse'.OFCOURSE was advanced English for him

Raghupathy put his hands on his pocket. Took his bike keys, placed it on the table and pushed it to KishanBabu.

"Take a ride, My bike is outside. Tell me how it feels" Raghupathy said

Kishanbabu stood emotionless. He didnt know how to react. Was it an encounter plan?

"Hmmmmm, Go" Raghupathy demanded.

Kishanbabu returned overwhelmed with tears of joy, his body shaking, his mouth giving a Duchenne smile .

"You Good man"
"You listen"
"I no steal, I no steal no more"
"Best bike you have"
Best bike? OFCOURSE.

The Lift

Good Morning.Welcome to Sizza plaza,You are on Ground Floor                            Gengu pressed on button 12 and as the lift door was closing ,his taste for design made him wonder, at the alternate possibilities of arranging the lift button panel.  Why is it not outside the lift?  Could there be a better design for this? He mentally calculated the pluses and minuses of different arrangements. Gengu works in an advertising agency. His job is to woo customers through his creative ads and make them want things whether they really want it or not.Despite the creative nature of his job, he felt it monotonus. It didnot satify his creative spirits. He wants to be an artist and create things in his own way. His corporate life started everyday in this lift. The eerie silence in the small metal room , the possibility of strangers standing together ,something  impossible for the major ...

The Writer's Story

It was a lazy Sunday Afternoon. Crows cawed, the sun smiled warmly, vehicles horned occasionally, life seemed to be still. Smitran Ragubat was having an afternoon nap, a tool he used to de-stress and shut down the noise in his head often. Twenty weeks had passed since he published his last story. His publisher was putting pressure on him to come up with one for the magazine he worked for.He wondered if the muse had left him and he is no more a writer. Afternoon naps have often served him good, flushing his brain and making it empty for ideas to pour in. And then his alarm rang. Smitran Ragubat woke up and went for a walk. He took tea from a roadside shop , contemplating on the way for an idea for his next story. As he walked back to his home, an idea came out of the blue. "I will walk back and meet a person, a stranger. I will earn the person's trust and ask their life's story and pub...

The Fly Over

Stepping down the bridge of Parel railway station. As i walk on i pass by a tied up cow and people touch its butt and place their hands on their eyes ignoring its pissing.A weight machine, atm, chapal shops, bhajji shops, a small open temple all pass by.Then as i pass by a bridge casting its shadow beneath i enter the minislum. Each house seems to have a tail, as a water hose peeps out of their doors. The inmates bathe, wash clothes and utensils on the open using the water from this tail.Houses are placed like matchboxes with two toilets at the ends for the entire household. Then i cross a road bearing a FlyOver to enter the campus where my office is. When the sun looks from the east...      I work on shifts, sometimes on morning shift, few times on general shift and mostly on afternoon shift.During my morning shift as i cross this FlyOver,a filthy dressed kid cleans the area with a broomstick beneath the FlyOver as if she is cleaning her own ho...
